Projects & Initiatives

Creating partnerships with youth is a long-standing UNEP policy for engaging the young people of the world in environmental work and empowering them to play increasingly active roles in decision making and initiating environmental action within their communities.

We invite you to explore the activities below, and...join hands with UNEP!

YouthXchange
YouthXchange is a training kit on responsible consumption, produced by the UNEP-UNESCO Partnership on Youth & Sustainable Lifestyles.
World Environment Day 2004
World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment
.
Clean Up the World
Clean up the World is an environmental campaign that inspires communities to clean up and conserve their local environment.

Global Environmental Outlook (GEO)
Recognizing how important young people are to the future of our planet, the Global Environment Outlook project targets children, youth and their educators through GEO Education products. These products aim to raise environmental awareness, involve young people in environmental assessment, and encourage youth action at local through global levels.

Focus On Your World: Photo Competition
UNEP, in collaboration with Canon Inc., launched the 4th Focus On Your World International Photo Competition on the Environment in 2004, in conjunction with World Environment Day celebrations.
Sport & the Environment
Sport is intimately connected to nature. A healthy environment is necessary for healthy sport. For many athletes, it is this intimacy with nature that motivates and inspires them.
